General Information

A native of Chicago, Dr. Lessing finished her undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago receiving a BA in Chemistry in only three years.

Dr. Lessing relocated to Maryland to join her husband who was serving in the United States Army. She continued her education at the University of Maryland at Baltimore, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, graduating cum laude. Immediately following dental school, Dr. Lessing followed her passion for Endodontics at the University of Maryland, graduating with the Certificate in Endodontics and a Masters Degree in Oral Biology after two years of rigorous training.

Dr. Lessing’s passion is treating her patients with respect and compassion, while providing the necessary care for their dental needs. Her other passion is attending numerous courses throughout the year, enriching her knowledge in Endodontics.  Currently, Dr. Lessing is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Maryland, in the Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry Department. She is also leading the Endodontics curriculum for the dental residency program at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Baltimore.

When not in the office, Dr. Lessing loves spending time with her husband, Mike, her two beautiful daughters, Audrey and Nadia, and their chocolate lab, Toggi (named after a Swiss chocolate).  Her hobbies include reading, cooking, and traveling.

Courtney is Dr. Lessing's Dental Nurse and has been with Excel Dental Specialties since it's inception.  She attended the Dental Assisting program at Hagerstown Business College and graduated in the top division of her class.  Courtney is dedicated to making your visit as comfortable as possible, and is truly happy for the oppurtunity to help people feel better at Dr. Lessing's side.  "I wouldn't change it for the world!!!"

With more than 15 years of customer service and office management experience, Kerry takes care of many of the day-to-day operations at Excel Dental Specialties.  She's more than happy to help out with any scheduling or billing questions you might have.  Kerry is dedicated to helping make your experience the best one possible.
